ADVICE
I almost started a course for couples in 2022.
Some of you might be like, “Yea Josh, we are still waiting for it.”
We were growing on TikTok weekly, answering a lot of questions, and getting a lot of great feedback.
But I hit a wall.
Not from being a content creator.
I realized everything I had been through, people were now asking me to break down into three digestible bullet points and talk about them so they could apply them.
I was fascinated by the high desire for it, and theoretically I see the value of it, and I am sure there are courses out there that provide value.
But to create a course and charge you for it would have been dishonest.
Why?
I never signed up for a course to begin with.
There wasn’t a relationship book I read that made me a good husband.
“Take the person who ‘made it’ and became world-class in whatever he did. If he went back and retraced his steps and did everything again the same way, but this time he did it by mimicking himself, he would fail.”

Everything I have accomplished, the things that I categorize as successful, have come against people’s advice.
Getting married at 21.
Against people’s advice.
Sara being a stay at home mom.

Starting a business at 27.

Leaving the church and my career as a pastor.

Moving across the country to California.

Homeschooling our kids to design our life and schedule.
Against people’s advice.
If you are wondering how it’s going, let’s just say boogie boarding is a part of our school curriculum.
I haven’t always known what to recommend to people, because I haven’t really listened to….. people.
I have been doing the opposite of whatever the general consensus is, and for some, disappointing whatever expectation they had of me as I was passing through to who I am today.
There isn’t a blueprint so I don’t want to pretend to have one or sell you one.
I just broke a lot of shit, took on risk, had a lot of fun, and kept letting the new data lead my next decision.

People who create raw data for themselves by their own actions live in a world that is incomprehensible to others and even their former selves.
